Kathy’s Presentation

My name is Kathy Zhou. I’m 25 years old. I’m from San Jose, California. San Jose is known for its tech industry and sunny weather.

Last year, I was teaching middle school math in New Orleans, Louisiana. Middle school in the states is equivalent to the collège here in France. New Orleans is known for its cajun cuisine and its jazz and blues music.

This year, I live in Noeux-les-Mines.

I’m not quite sure yet where I will be next year.

I enjoy traveling, playing music, running, eating, and riding my bike.

Hello! My name is Erin Houghton. I am 22 years old and I come from the United States. In the United States, I live in Michigan. My hometown is Troy, Michigan and I went to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

Fun fact- Michigan is shaped like a mitten!

I like dogs, dancing, and watching TV. I don’t like video games or spiders. I have one brother named Brett and one dog named Katie. This year, I live in Béthune, France. Next year, I will go back to Michigan.

Troy, Michigan is about 20 minutes north of Detroit, Michigan. Detroit is known for Motown music and the auto industry. There are also four major professional sports teams in Detroit- Detroit Lions (American football), Detroit Pistons (basketball), Detroit Red Wings (hockey), and Detroit Tigers (baseball).

At university, I studied Psychology and French Culture. I also worked at a primary school.

I like to read, run, cook, and travel. What I like best is spending time with my family, my friends, and my dog.

Currently, I live in Lille with three other English assistants.

Last year, I lived in Nice, France. I was an au pair for two little boys and a dog.

Next year, I am moving back to North Carolina. I am starting graduate school in the fall. I will study public health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is the oldest public university in the United States (1789).

Contrary to its name, North Carolina is in the south. And in the south, instead of saying “you all,” we contract it to “y’all.” As an English assistant, I try not to say it, but it is really hard!

My name is Courtney Hlebo.

I am from California, in the United States.

I am 24 years old.

I like writing, cooking, reading, and doing yoga.

This year I have traveled to Switzerland and Spain. I hope to travel to Italy soon.

Last year I lived in Ventura, a city in California by the beach. I worked as an editor, helping to make books.

This year I live in Arras. I teach English at schools in Rœux and Monchy-le-Preux.

Next year I will live in the United States again.

Ventura is well-known for surfing. This is a popular sport in California. Many surfers come to Ventura to ride the big waves on the ocean using their surfboards. I tried surfing once. I liked surfing, but it is harder than it looks!

ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL THIS YEAR

Outside of school, I have been enjoying making new friends in France. I think people in this region are very friendly and welcoming. In November, I invited some of my new friends to celebrate Thanksgiving with me. Thanksgiving is an American holiday where we eat a special meal with family or friends. We also talk about things we are thankful for. I am thankful for my family, my friends, and my country. I am also thankful to be in France this year.

Let’s tide up the kitchen with Sarah

Sarah a aménagé l’espace cuisine avec le groupe des moyens de la classe des TPS/PS/MS de Baincthun.

Dans une première séance, Sarah a présenté les ustensiles de cuisine aux élèves en leur demandant de répéter les mots. Sarah a ensuite présenté les référents en demandant aux élèves d’apporter les objets présentés.

Les enfants ont ensuite dressé la table grâce à des sets de table distribués et décrits par Sarah.

Dans une dernière séance, les enfants ont joué au bingo des ustensiles de cuisine.
